An Exceptionally Fine Regency Period Nest of four specimen Wood Coffee Tables,
having crossbanded tops Incorporating mulberry, satinwood, amboyna. Mahogany, And maple veneers raised on elegant turned rosewood supports and stretchers with sliding sewing basket. 1815. Identical examples of sets manufactured by Gillows of Lancaster & London published. Dimensions of smallest table: 28” h. x 17 w. x 15 3/4.
A related set of quartetto tables form part of the collection at Leighton Hall, Lancashire and are thought to have been supplied by Gillows. A set of tables identical to those offered with the addition of a trough to the smallest table were part of a group of furnishings supplied to William Senhouse in the West Indies by Gillows, the Senhouse tables were sold Christies London, 17 November 1983, lot 3.
